For many students, the classroom is where dreams take shape. But for some, blurred vision makes learning a daily struggle—affecting not just their education but also their confidence and future potential.
At Focus Point, we believe that every child deserves the gift of clear sight, because when they can see better, they can learn better, dream bigger, and achieve more.
That’s why, in collaboration with Taptaplah, we brought our School Vision Care (SVC) Programme to SMK Segambut, focusing on underserved students from the B40 community. Over the course of two meaningful days, our team worked hand in hand with teachers and students to ensure that no child is left behind due to uncorrected vision problems.
This initiative was made even more impactful with the generous support from HOYA Malaysia, whose contribution played a vital role in providing quality lenses for the sponsored eyewear.
Restoring Sight, Restoring Confidence
With the support of our Eye Care Professionals (ECPs) and Trainers, we conducted comprehensive vision screenings to identify students who needed vision correction. Many of these students had never had an eye check-up before, and for some, it was the first time they realized they had been struggling with poor vision all along.
Seeing their faces light up as they tried on their sponsored eyewear was a truly heartwarming moment. A simple pair of glasses can mean the difference between struggling in class and thriving academically—between hesitation and confidence.
For these students, this was more than just an eye test. It was a chance for a clearer future.
Educating Young Minds: Myopia Management Awareness
Beyond providing eyewear, we believe in empowering students with knowledge so they can take care of their own vision for years to come.
Our team conducted an eye health awareness talk on Myopia Management, addressing the growing concern of near-sightedness among schoolchildren. With increasing screen time and limited outdoor activities, myopia rates are on the rise. But the good news? Good habits can help slow its progression!
We introduced students to the 20-20-20 Rule, a simple yet effective method to reduce digital eye strain and prevent worsening myopia:
“Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break to look at something 20 feet away.”
The students were curious, engaged, and eager to learn, a reminder that educating young minds today helps create a healthier generation tomorrow.
A Commitment to Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3)
This initiative goes beyond just corporate social responsibility, it is our commitment to creating lasting change. By supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, we aim to make quality eye care accessible to all.
Through the Focus Point Caring Hearts Charity Foundation, we are dedicated to reaching more underserved communities, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to see the world clearly.
Together, We Make a Difference
As we packed up after two fulfilling days, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community. Seeing students walk away with clearer vision and brighter smiles reaffirmed our belief that small acts of kindness can create life-changing impact.
To our partners at Taptaplah, the dedicated teachers of SMK Segambut, our passionate Focus Point team, and our generous supporter HOYA Malaysia, thank you for making this possible. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to bringing clear vision to more young dreamers.
Because at Focus Point, we believe that when you care for someone’s vision, you help them see a world of possibilities.
